Miles Prosser - Executive Director

Miles has twenty years experience in industry policy issues.  He has previously worked for the pulp & paper and forest industries on a range of issues relating to resource allocation, sustainability and climate change.  Miles has experience in the development and implementation of policy from the perspective of Government, resource suppliers, major processing companies and industry associations.  The priorities of the Australian Aluminium Council include an effective response to climate change, the renewable energy target and the reputation of the aluminium industry and its products.


Michael Ison - Manager Policy and Research

In his capacity as Manager Policy and Research, held since 2000, Michael is responsible for managing various AAC activities including industry panels and AAC involvement in areas of interest to members. Michael also facilitates engagement in areas such as air emissions, health and amenity, safety and the environment; as well as managing various projects under the Asia Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate Aluminium Task Force. He also represents the aluminium industry on a number of standards committees, and is currently the AAC representative on the Standards Australia Council.

Michael graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Science (Geology - Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (English Literature).

Alan Cransberg - President


Alan Cransberg was appointed Managing Director, Alcoa of Australia on 1 February 2008, accountable for Alcoa’s alumina and aluminium interests across Australia. He is also a Vice President of Alcoa Inc. Alan has been a member of the Board of the Australian Aluminium Council since 4 February 2008, and was appointed as President on 14 May 2010.

Alan began his Alcoa career in Western Australia in 1980 with a University of Western Australia degree in Civil Engineering. He became Pinjarra Alumina Refinery manager in 1998, and in 2001 moved to the US to continue his Alcoa career. He became President, Global Manufacturing for Alcoa’s Global Primary Products group in 2004, based in New York.

Alan sits on the boards of the West Coast Eagles, the Australian Institute of Management (AIM), the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the Black Swan State Theatre Company. He is also a Counsellor for ABAF (Australian Business Arts Foundation).
