Marghanita Johnson – Chief Executive Officer

Marghanita Johnson has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Aluminium Council since 2019. She has over 25 years’ experience in the Australian mining and manufacturing sectors, predominantly within the aluminium industry. Prior to joining the Council she led government engagement and advocacy on behalf of Rio Tinto’s Pacific Aluminium assets and prior to that held key climate and sustainability roles at Rio Tinto.

Marghanita has Environmental Engineering and Chemistry degrees from the University of Western Australia. She is currently a Chair of the Australian Industry Greenhouse Network and a Non-Executive Director of Alpha HPA Limited and the Energy Users Association of Australia. She has previously been a non-executive director on the boards of the New Zealand Aluminium Smelter and the Tomago Aluminium Company.

 

Tony Gramlick – Technical Advice (1800 642 230)

Tony has been the Technical Advisor to the Australian Aluminium Council since 1996. He has over 6 decades of experience in the aluminium industry as an Engineer. His lifetime involvement with the industry began when he was employed by Alcan Australia as Technical Service Engineer to assist its customers using aluminium for new products and applications.

Areas of interest included the transport, architectural, packaging, and defence industries.

He represents the aluminium industry on a number of Standards Australia committees.
