The Australian Aluminium Council welcomes South32’s Worsley Alumina Refinery & Bauxite Mine as its newest member. The Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Marghanita Johnson, said “South32’s membership means the Council now represents all five of Australia’s major bauxite mines and all seven of its alumina refineries – producing a combined 100 Mt of bauxite and 21 Mt of alumina per annum.”
This is a crucial part of the $11 B in export value contributed by the sector annually. Having the full value chain of Australia’s major producers represented strengthens the Council and provides a key representative forum for South32’s operations on key issues such as climate and energy policy, sustainable bauxite mining and environmental issues.
