Sustainability Report 2011

Launched in October 2012, the Aluminium Sustainabililty Report shows how the Aluminium industry goes about its business. It provides real data to allow for meaningful measurement of both benefit and impact.

The report continues the process of identifying the industry’s performance in a number of areas, including safety. A matter of key importance to our members is to deliver against the objective of a safe working environment for all our people. The report demonstrates that we have made substantial progress, and in a number of instances the Australian aluminium industry is a global leader. It shows the performance of the industry as a whole in the key areas of:

  • Production
  • Exports and imports
  • Greenhouse gas emissions
  • Recycling
  • Energy use
  • Energy efficiency
  • Use of water and land
  • Spent pot lining
  • Fluoride emissions
  • Employment
