Aluminium’s Role in our Everyday Life and Green Energy Future

Aluminium shouldn’t need an introduction. Yet perhaps because it’s so embedded in our lives, we often forget it’s there.

A staple in households and workplaces, you’ll find aluminium in your kitchen drawers, windowsills, stair railings and door frames. The silver metal is used to make cars, bikes, smart phones, and medical equipment—and because of its electrical conductivity, it’s likely found in wiring that charged the device you’re reading this on. 

The versatile metal is 100 per cent recyclable with 75 per cent of all aluminium ever produced still in use today. However, demand for the metal is increasing in part due to its role in our green energy transition.
