The Council welcomes the opportunity to provide feedback to the Australia’s Critical Minerals Strategy: Discussion Paper (the Paper). The Council also welcomes the recognition by the Australian Government that Critical Minerals are the building blocks of clean energy technologies as well as essential inputs to technologies used every day. The Council agrees that without mining, the world cannot reach net zero by 2050 and that the minerals required to achieve our decarbonisation goals are of such magnitude that to reach net zero, we will need more mining, not less.
