The Australian Aluminium Council (the Council) welcomes the opportunity to make a submission on the 2026-27 Safeguard Mechanism Review Consultation Paper (the Paper). The Council’s submission is in three
parts:
1. This letter including industry context in the face of global competitiveness challenges;
2. Aluminium energy and climate context; and
3. Responses to selected questions in the Paper of relevance.
The Council’s Members have also made their own submissions which should be read alongside this industry position.
