The Rio Tinto Here for Gladstone programme is our flagship community investment programme for the region. It is solely focussed on improving the health, livelihood and welfare of the Gladstone community. Since it was established in 2002, it has invested A$6.35 million into the Gladstone community on a range of projects.
The projects we support have four things in common—project need is determined by our independent research, the projects tackle the root cause of an issue, results are trackable, and the projects are independently sustainable in the future.
Supported primarily by Rio Tinto, Boyne Smelters Limited and QAL, Here for Gladstone is governed by a Board made up of community and business leaders.
